The National Assembly was informed today that there are twenty-two thousand seats in medical colleges across the country, out of which, 65 percent are in the private sector, while 35 percent are in government institutions.

Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal said complaints regarding private medical colleges are taken up and addressed promptly.

He informed the House that private medical colleges cannot charge fees exceeding two point one million rupees. He further said no private medical college can increase its fee on its own.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution calling upon the federal and provincial governments to celebrate the blessed occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW) at the highest level.

The resolution, moved by Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, called for the illumination and decoration of official, semi-official and private buildings, as well as highways, to mark the occasion.

It urged all government institutions, including educational and business institutions and media houses, to participate in the celebrations in a befitting manner.

The resolution also called for promoting peace, tolerance and brotherhood in accordance with the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

The House expressed its resolve to promote the Sunnah and teachings of the Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah Khatam-un-Nabiyyin Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

The resolution also appealed to the nation to celebrate the blessed occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW) with utmost solemnity, respect and unity.

The House will now meet again on Friday at eleven in the morning.
