UNDP, GBRSP sign MoU to mitigate effects of climate change

The United Nations Development Program Pakistan and Gilgit-Baltistan Rural Support Program have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deal the effects of climate change in the region. 

The signing ceremony was held at the UNDP Country Office Islamabad where GBRSP General Manager Ashfaq Ahmed and UNDP Resident Representative Dr. Samuel Rizak signed the agreement.

The project aims is to protect the vulnerable population of the mountainous areas from climatic hazards and strengthen the early warning system to deal with hazards such as floods, glacial lake outbursts and landslides in a timely manner.
