Govt to introduce major reforms in passport system: Mohsin

The Federal Government has decided to introduce major reforms in the passport system.

The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at Passport and Immigration Headquarters in Islamabad today.

The meeting also decided in principal to completely shift the issuance of passports to E-passport system. Moreover, the people availing premium services facility will have to pay a fee according to the expenses incurred on the passport.

It was decided to implement cashless system in the passport offices from first of next month, while online passport applications will be shifted to PakID App.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said complete transition to E-passport will eliminate fraud and forgery in issuance of passports.

He directed to finalize policy regarding business passport at the earliest in consultation with FBR.

The meeting was informed that initial work has been completed for home delivery of passports within the country and abroad.

During the meeting, Director General Passports and Immigration, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, gave a detailed briefing to the Interior Minister regarding the passport system.
