International Albinism Awareness Day is being observed today.

Albinism is a genetic condition inherited from both parents that occurs worldwide, regardless of ethnicity or gender.

The theme of the Day of 2026 is "Proudly in my skin - celebrating all skin tones."

The theme draws attention to how colour-based discrimination can affect dignity, safety and mental wellbeing.
