The first public consultation on the proposed governance model for Islamabad was held in the federal capital today.
Addressing the event, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the proposed governance model seeks to address Islamabad's administrative and representational gaps in line with the aspirations of its people.
He said it is imperative to preserve the ecology of Islamabad while carrying out development projects. He said Islamabad should become an ecological capital of the world.
In his remarks, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the government is taking all possible measures to improve governance in Islamabad as per the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He stressed the need to address the disparity between the rural and urban areas of the Islamabad Capital Territory.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry further said other segments of society will also be consulted.
